3 Steps I Take Every Spring to Get Summer Ready

Summer is just around the corner and I can close my eyes and just feel the warmth of the sun, the sand on the beach and the smell of summer BBQ. There are so many things to get ready and get organized so I wanted to share all of my tips to get ready for summer.

Step 1: Detox

Detoxing and cleansing your body is SO important after a long winter-hibernation season. It’s a great time to reset our bodies, feel less bloated and have more energy and confidence for summer.

Join me in doing my regular summer reset on Monday, May 3rd, or whenever you’re ready!

The Reset Includes:

  • 10 Day Guide with tips, motivation, checklists & accountability

  • A 10 day meal plan with simple, healthy recipes that will make you GLOW!

  • Accountability from me with daily emails

  • Access to my private K VIP Group for support!

Just for a little fun, here is my favourite detox blueberry smoothie! There are plenty more of these in my 10 Day reset!

Blueberry Detox Smoothie

Add all of the ingredients below into your blender and blend until smooth!

  • 1 Cup of Frozen Blueberries

  • 1 Cup of Baby Spinach

  • 1 Banana (peeled, chopped and frozen)

  • 1 Tbsp Chia Seeds

  • 1 Cup of Unsweetened Almond Milk

Now that your body is feeling better and you have more energy, it's time to get active!

Step 2: Get Active!

I make sure I incorporate lots of long walks to breathe in fresh air, get some vitamin D and a little change of scenery.

I amp up my cardio routine a bit to get that pre-summer shred. Whether it’s going for jogs, skipping rope, or biking, I do at least 3 days of cardio per week.

And lastly, I can’t miss out on strength training! Cardio is essential but strength is where you really see change in your body as it helps to tighten and tone your muscles. I especially like to focus on glutes, core & arms before summer.

Here’s what a summer shred split would look like:

Monday: Upper Body Strength & 20 MIN HIIT

Tuesday: Lower Body Strength

Wednesday: 1 Hour Cardio (Outdoor jog, indoor treadmill uphill walk or jog, skipping)

Thursday: Upper Body Strength & 20 MIN HIIT

Friday: 30 min full body + 30 min cardio

Saturday: Lower Body

Sunday: Active Recovery

My strength training days are with Barry’s at Home! My HIIT usually consists of treadmill interval runs, skip rope, boxing, or body weight plyometrics.

Remember to always dedicate equal time to health, wellness and nutrition. Balance is so important!

Step 3: Reward Yourself!

Buy those cute clothes you’ve been eyeing!

I love buying new clothes at the beginning of summer because it gives me confidence after hiding in sweaters and sweatpants all winter! Some of my favourite brands are:

Sport Chek, Lululemon, Lorna Jane (you can use my code KARINA20 for 20% off), and Aritzia.
